Mercury Theatre on the Air's Julius Caesar
A Live Radio Play
Revolution Shakespeare and the Hear Again Radio Project team up again (after 2014's Fringe hit, Kill Shakespeare) to present a timely offering for this election: the Mercury Theatre on the Air's version of Julius Caesar, first presented on September 11, 1938.
Edited and directed by Orson Welles, this Caesar is a lean 65 minutes, cut down to emphasize the political aspects of the play, the turmoil of Rome in the face of regime change and shifts in public approval. And indeed, the violence that such shifts can bring.
Performed at the historic Physick House, RevShakes & H.A.R.P. present Julius Caesar fully dramatized, with a full cast, live music and foley effects, just as they would have had in 1938.
